Title : The impact of political and social interests on firms’ strategies : Value-based perspectives
One of the central questions in strategy studies relates to understanding how economic value that is created by a firm in its value network is captured by the focal firm versus a broader set of claimants. In this workshop, we will examine dominant value creation and appropriation perspectives, with particular attention paid to emerging work that incorporates considerations of a broader, heterogeneous set of firm-stakeholder relationships to understand the associated value implications, not just on a private (i.e. firm-level) but also social and public value level.

Title : Cooperative Strategies and Governance for Addressing Societal Issues
One of the increasingly prominent questions in strategy and management relates to understanding how firms, governments and other organizational actors may address pressing societal issues and deliver broader public value. In this workshop, we will examine and reflect on the latest insights at the intersection of organizational governance, collaborative strategies, and societal challenges. Drawing upon recent research, we will explore the role of novel organizational forms and explore three key tensions that such organizing should address (cooperation, coordination, and co-optation) to achieve broader societal value.
