Download the presentation - 677.17 KB
Incentives in firms exhibit a complex mix of competitive features, such as promotion or relative bonuses, and collective aspects, such as teamwork and divisional bonuses. Agency theory has been successful in understanding some of the practices and suggesting optimal organizations. The aim of this lecture is to lay out a simple theoretical framework to organize the vast literature, connect it to the empirical evidence and point out further developments that are still needed.
