The generation of national corporate governance systems can be regarded as excellent case-studies of institution building in transition economies. Ownership, corporate governance structure and the institutional environment will be highlighted as central determinants of governance quality. The workshop session seeks to provide an overview of the most current research with an emphasis on central methodological and technical problems, major findings and open questions for future research.
